Next Stop: DeLand
Our family’s quest to move our baby girl in to the first step of adulthood to one of the biggest COVID-19 hotspots in the country: Florida.

Beginning at a brisk 4:30 am, we began our mission to rendezvous with the rest of the family in Orlando before driving to DeLand. Mia, the youngest of two, second of four, and only granddaughter was set to attend Stetson University.

With growing nerves and a reluctancy to say goodbye, nothing seemed to help more than a home cooked meal, some time by the pool, and a trip to the outlets.

Freshman year. A time of self discovery, adventure and doing whatever the hell you want.
A short 56 minute drive from Orlando to Stetson University in DeLand and it was time to move in. With coronavirus concerns only two of us were allowed into the building at a time. With alternating between our posse, we managed to sanitize the single dorm room (due to covid), move in the mini-fridge, and set up the typical decor of the college freshman girl.

Every college campus should have palm trees.

Saying goodbye is tough, even when you know it’s only a few months.

I have great friends, many of which I can call family. But few will compare to my baby sister. Together we’ve laughed until soup came out of noses, shared love for Community and the Arrowverse and shared experiences that no one can understand but us. Through quarantine, we spent the most time together since we both grew into the people we are now. I’m sure it was not an easy decision to move down the coast and it took an inspiring amount of courage to do so. I am so proud of the strong young woman you’ve become.
I love you 3000 Mi
